4 Diet Plans to Choose From

Monday, September 6th, 2010

Eating healthy and staying healthy is the new mantra of the common man. Yes, there are youngsters who aspire to have Stallone-like bodies but an average breadwinner just wants to remain in shape. And in order to stay in shape, he tends to consult a dietician and start a healthy diet plan for himself which is very correct. The objectives of these diet plans are two- to reduce your weight and to strengthen your muscles. There are certain plans which make you lose weight quickly but believe me, they will bloat you up as soon as you resume normal eating.

In my research on good diet plans, I came across four good ones. So I will discuss them one by one.
1.The first one is the Vegetarian Diet Plan. Under the vegetarian Plan, fruits and vegetables, whole grains and legumes have to be consumed in every meal. While eggs and sweets should only be consumed once a week, nuts, seeds, egg whites, soy and plant oils should find a place in your diet daily.

Along with all this, 12 glasses of water and little amount of alcohol is a must daily. And it is strongly recommended to get some physical exercise daily in order to get the body metabolism running thus aiding in the process of food digestion.

2.The second, the Asian Diet Plan closely resembles the Vegetarian one with the addition of fish and shellfish in the daily diet and meat in the monthly scheme. The requirements of water, alcohol and physical exercise are also the same as above.

3.Under the Latin American Diet Plan, vegetables, fruits, whole grains, tubers, beans and nuts are included in the foodstuffs required for every meal. Under the daily category come the items fish, shellfish, daily, plant oils and poultry while meats, eggs and sweets come in the weekly category. 6 full glasses of water is suggested along with alcohol in moderation and light physical exercise.

4.Lastly, the Mediterranean Diet Plan is similar to the Latin American one with the addition of cheese, yoghurt and olive oil in the daily category and the shifting of fish to the weekly section. The water and exercise requirements remain the same.

Thus, as we can see, the main focus of every diet plan is on maximum consumption of fruits and vegetables. While it is suggested to consume minimum 4 vegetables a day, 3 fruits a day is a must. An apple a day keeps the doctor away. So always eat one apple daily.

Follow a Healthy Diet Plan

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

If you’re like most dieters, you want to lose weight quickly and keep it off. There are a lot of tempting and sensational sounding fad diets out there, but the best approach is to follow a sensible healthy diet plan.

Although you may be tempted to start a fad diet (or crash diet as they are also known) that promises to help you lose amazing amounts of weight in a few days, you need to think carefully before you make your decision. The fact is that many of these diets fail to produce lasting results.

These diets usually fall into one of two categories: the reduced calorie or restricted food diets (where you must avoid certain foods and only eat from a very restricted group of allowed foods), or the diets that require you to use special supplements, such as diet pills, bars or drinks.

While it’s true that you will lose a few pounds quickly on these fad diets, what you may not know is that is only a temporary result. You are actually losing pounds of water, not fat, which is your body’s reaction to starvation. As soon as you stop the diet, your body will soak these water-pounds up again like a sponge.

Most people who start these crash diets quit after a short while, such as a few weeks, as their body is suffering all the way. They just can’t stand it anymore. Other people with more will power will keep going for months, but they may experience harmful side effects.

Many of these crash diets can cause long term damage, particularly to the heart or kidneys. Also, as these diets don’t properly balance the nutrients you need on a daily basis, you can deplete your body’s supply of vitamins and minerals. This can cause weakness to your bones, and even cause anemia (especially in teenage girls). Also, a lack of proper dietary fibre can cause problems, as dietary fibre helps to prevent disease.

When you are on a diet, it is important that you don’t ignore healthy eating. A diet plan that neglects foods that are good for you in favor of fast weight loss is potentially dangerous. Your body needs a steady supply of vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber to ensure it remains healthy.

Over time, your metabolism will suffer and slow down as you lose muscle mass. This makes it even harder for your body to burn calories, making it harder to lose weight as time goes by.

A healthy weight loss diet plan avoids these short sighted crash-diet mistakes and instead focuses on a routine that you can maintain and follow even after you have gained your ideal weight. This means that you will be able to continue a healthy lifestyle after the weigh loss diet is over.

Following a healthy daily diet plan allows you to get your body used to a routine it will be able to follow and this means that you will be able to keep the calories off after you have lost the weight.

A healthy diet plan can help you to reduce the risk of developing high blood pressure by eliminating the foods that put you at risk, such as high salt content foods and cholesterol. You will also be eating foods that improve your health, such as fresh fruit and vegetables and low fat dairy foods.

One of the main benefits of following a sensible plan is that you will be looking after your heart. A healthy diet plan eliminates many of the factors which can cause heart disease. So you will be reducing the risk of suffering heart disease while also improving your general health.

Reducing your fat and salt intakes and avoiding additives and stimulants in your food and drink is important. Caffeine (as found in coffee, tea and flavored sodas) puts strain on the heart and can make it beat too fast.

Speak to your dietitian or doctor when you are planning a diet. A healthy meal plan can be worked out which will take your normal routines and lifestyle into consideration. You will feel a lot happier about your diet if it allows you to keep your same lifestyle and eat some of the foods you love!

When you speak to your dietitian, he will be able to help you work out a tailor made plan based on your reasons for losing weight. Also it will help you to work out what your ideal weight is, based on your height and some other factors. Your healthy diet meal plan will give you the best of both worlds – you will get to enjoy your favorite foods while you improve your health and lose weight at the same time!

Also, it’s important for you to stay active while you are dieting, as it will keep your metabolism high and help you burn the calories.

If you look on the Internet, you will be able to find many resources (such as government or educational web sites) that offer a free healthy diet plan. These resources are guaranteed to be hype free and are usually based on good common sense.

Some people believe that switching to a vegetarian diet may cure their diabetes problem, but it is not totally correct. Well, it can be managed well with vegetarian diet compared to a non-vegetarian one. In that sense, vegetarian diet can be a wise inclusion to diabetic diet plan.

There is no hard-and-fast rule for preparing a vegetarian diet plan. Vegan diet is the austere form of vegetarian diet. Vegans typically do not feed themselves on any sort of animal products such as dairy and egg. However, other vegetarians can eat these products.

An austere vegan diet comprises of almost no-cholesterol content in it. It also contains low saturated fat. It is mostly prepared with a generous selection of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes. These food products are essentially high in fiber. Typically, a vegetarian diet offers lesser calories than non-vegetarian one. So it is beneficial for diabetic patients.

Vegetarian diet is an effective choice in diabetic diet plan because of its weight loss ability which significantly benefits people with type-II diabetes. Some scientific studies confirmed that vegetarian diet can make the body more receptive to insulin.
Vegetarian diet can not cure diabetes, but of course it can alleviate various diabetes-related symptoms including cardiovascular disease and kidney problems. But, obviously this is profoundly dependent on the selection of food.

If you have diabetes and you are planning to change your diet to a vegetarian one, you should consult your dietician. The dietician can guide you for the best selection of diabetic diet plan suitable to your health system.

First its the Atkins Diet, then its the Suzanne Summers Diet, then its the Green Tea diet are you drowning in a filed of misinformation trying to find your healthy diet plan?

When it comes to a healthy diet plan what you need to remember is that a fad in dieting is just like a fashion fad here today gone tomorrow and usually there is no scientific information that would prove these fads work.

A healthy diet plan never has to be as complicated as many would like to make you believe. Im a firm believer in simple so if you burn more calories than you eat you are going to loose weight and if you eat more calories than you burn you are going to gain weight. Now how simple is that?

For your healthy diet plan to work it needs to be packed with nutrition and a calorie count thats lower than what you burn. Now you think that would make good sense and fundamentally it does however if you reduce your calorie intake drastically your body is going to panic and go into starvation mode storing everything as fat.

Your healthy diet plan must not reduce your calories more than 500 calories from where you are right now. What you do nee to do however is trade out those fats for healthier choices in the fruits and vegetables category and for heavens sakes remember that if you are having a salad try to keep the dressing calories down.

A healthy diet doesnt restrict any one food group nor does it encourage eating only one food group. Instead you can eat anything you want in moderation including that decadent piece of chocolate cake. But what you do have to do is increase your activity. Increasing activity while reducing calories only slightly is a far more effective way of loosing weight long term.

A healthy diet plan will do just that for you. It will retrain the way you think about food it will help you make healthier choices. Calorie count and read labels for awhile but it wont take long before you wont have to anymore. Once you have retrained your brain you will automatically be drawn to healthy foods and you will know their approximate value. So you see like anything new a little practice and in no time youll be good as gold.

Of course while you are working on your healthy diet plan you need to also be fine tuning your exercise plan. You need to increase your aerobic workout so that you are burning more calories and you also need to include weight training so that you are toning and building muscle.

A healthy diet plan combined with a healthy exercise program will result in a healthy lifestyle for years to come. You are going to feel great and look fantastic. And with no diet programs to get involved in youll save your money and your time after all you already have the secret to safe weight loss.
